Building materials maker announces $118 million expansion in North Carolina

A major building materials maker plans to invest more than $100 million in its North Carolina operations, state and company officials said announcement.

CertainTeed said the $118.8 million project would add 225,000 square feet of manufacturing space in Oxford, North Carolina, where the company produces roofing shingles. The project is expected to create 37 new jobs with an average annual salary of nearly $67,000. Company officials said the investment would help meet “unprecedented demand” from its customers.

CertainTeed, a subsidiary of French manufacturing giant Saint-Gobain, has been producing roofing materials in Granville County, North Carolina since 1978. The company also produces siding, roofing, decking, insulation, ceilings, etc.

North Carolina economic development officials have approved a $125,000 grant, to be matched by local governments to support the project, provided the company’s hiring and capital investment goals are met. are achieved.
